I Search Movie

At nearly the end of the year we started a project called I Search. We had to write a topic relating to Media Literacy but for my 6th period Media Arts class we had to make a movie. So we decided to research about social networking if its affecting people of socializing in face to face time. It took a lot of research and time to do this project. Basically I think we used a lot of what we learned this year to this project mostly. Such as making our own music in Garageband, getting pictures that can be used with permission, and making the scripts and storyboard better.

Media Questions & Answers

Your group may work together to come up with the answers. But each of you will be given a grade based on your blog entry. It's OK if they are the same IF they're really good.
  1. Which of the 8 rules of Media Literacy is illustrated in the Beauty and Body Image article? Why and how?
  2. The article on advertising to children is a great example of media constructing reality (#2 rule of Media Literacy). Can you think of an example of media constructed reality aimed at teens? Tell me what it is and how it constructs reality.
  3. The commercial implications (#4) of media literacy are illustrated in The Economics of Ethnicity link. Do you think most media does a good job of showing what your real life is like? The number of minority people you see daily, the kinds of problems you have in real life, the way those problems get solved - are these things that you see in TV shows, movies and advertising?
Hopefully, answering these questions will help you understand what media literacy is and guide you in making your presentation. You will be graded on evidence that you read and discussed the articles and the thoroughness of your answer. It's important that you get this job done today. If you don't finish in class, do it for homework.

1. The rule of Media Literacy that illustrates the Beauty and Body Image article is rule number 5 Media contain ideological and value messages because it tells all media is constructed and Media is built by people. Your thinking of the ways you think about all media that makes this world our reality.
2. In other parts of the world it’s not a big deal of kids watching movies people having sex in movies such as Europe.
3. I do think our media does a good job of showing what our real life is like. All advertising is media, and its also giving us what is popular and good in life.

Media Arts Commerical

My group had to make a commercial on our Media Arts class. My group members are Gordon and Stephanie. The commercial isn't about encouraging future 7th graders of joining this class because you can't choose your class if you have bad grades. But, for those who have good grades and can choose this as their elective class. The commercial shows what our class did this past year. So they would know what similar projects they might be going to do for their entire year. But, this commercial will not be shown to anybody except for Ms.Hendrix. My job was to record part of the video and we just kept on switching roles. We had a hard time cooperating because we were constantly getting distracted. I think we did a good job doing our commercial.

Super Bowl Ads Are Out to Get You!

One ad or commercials that I like a lot when I was a kid was the chuckeee cheese one. It reminds me when I was kid how fun it looks like. They are very good at attracting kids to go there because of all their games they have. But, when I think about it now it seems very annoying and weird. Times change when you grow up.

Alcohol PSA

In these 2-3 weeks I made a PSA about teenage alcohol abuse. I didn't make the PSA alone, we did it in a group. Plus there was also a group of people who helped us were the SFFS. Three of them came to our classroom.(Kirithi, Ryan, and Masa) The PSA was very new experience for me seems I never did before was very useful for me when I'm, maybe going to do anot her one in the future. The people that are in my group is Aqua, Connor, David, and me.
My role is to film Connor. Connor was editing and the main character, Aqua and David were making the music together. It took us about 2 weeks to finalize our project plus it took us 2 periods that means taking away our lunch time. I think it was a good experience to do this for a chance and expressing to the world about the problems a lot of teenagers have everyday. Our group thinks alcohol is one of the major problems for a lot of teenagers as well as families, so that was why we choose teenage drinking as our PSA.

My Public Service Announcement of Drinking

This week our class is doing PSA's. My group is doing a PSA on drinking. My partners for our drinking PSA are Connor, David, and Aqua. Connor will be the one acting and editing. While Aquarius and I will be taking turns taking pictures. David is going to make the sound. We don't need anybody to bring the props becaues Ms. Hendrix (teacher) will provide us with a beer bottle and a flask for the beer which won't contain any liquor. This is a PSA for teenagers to stop them from trying to drink, not only is it harmful do your body in many ways such as the brain and its highly addictive to some people. Our slogan for our PSA is "From drinking to sinking" made by our talented classmate David Pan.

John's Escher Picture Assignment

This is a related M.C. Escher picture I made in class these last 2 days. I think I have more than 3 perspectives in this picture. I putted the text box there to make it funny. I think the one upside down in the ladder is the best perspective I made out of this whole picture. At first I didn't know how to make an Escher picture but then after I saw his drawings it made me have a clear idea of how to make one. I find it very easy in fact to make this picture because I did it in Kerpoof.

Homework Jan_26

This week I'm off doing the podcasts. So I'm helping Mr.Geller taking photos in Elp for the yearbook. I'm the only person taking pictures of Elp because I'm the only one going to Elp. I couldn't take a lot of pictures there because there weren't a lot of clubs happening that week. I only took a good 10 pictures of Elp and one in AACE.

BBC Jan 27 & homework assignment

The Deathstar is a kind of a moon like type of weapon that can blast any planet to smithereens in just one blast or beam. While Darth Vader was trying to get a hold of that weapon or moon to destroy Princess's planet which he successfully did to smithereens. While Obi Wan-Kenobi felted it like a force that tells him a million people had die in somewhere.
Darth Vader is trying to capture the Princess because he wants the Death Star and all the rebel bases hideout, but the Princess putted a computer chip thing inside R2d2 to ask Obi Wan-Kenobi for help. So R2d2 and C3PO escaped the ship and went in search to find Obi Wan-Kenobi, R2d2's owner. Which they did but got captured by some short bandits and sold them to Luke Skywalker.
Luke Skywalker father was an apprentice of Obi Wan-Kenobi. Luke's father was killed by Obi Wan Kenobi's other apprentice. When Luke found Obi Wan-Kenobi he gave him his fathers light saber and told him all about the force around them. Luke is an important character because he's helping out the Princess and is now training to become a Jedi.

Lucas Book Blog Entry

I picked a book about the biography of George Lucas. I wanted to learn more about George's life. What movies he made. How the Star Wars movies got so popular in the 80's etc. I actually wanted to know who help George film the entire series of Star Wars back then. How much money was used to make the entire movie and more. Also, I wondered how they made Yoda and the other characters in Star Wars. I guess thats all I wanted to find out, maybe their might be even newer information in the book I don't know about.

Star Wars V Plot Summary

In the beginning Luke was traveling in the icy cold planet called Hoth with his camel animal thing investigating a meteor nearby. Luke didn't came back and the Rebels were beginning to worry themselves of Luke missing. He was actually trapped by Wampa a ice monster in a cave. He used his force to get his light saber and cut off his leg cuffs and slashed the monster and escaped. But, he got lost in the snow storm and doesn't know his way around the new area. As, Luke traveled arcross the icy terrain, he lost quite a bit of his energy and falled to the ground. Stuggling for his final breath, he saw the spirit of Obi Wan Kenobi and he told Luke to go to the planet of Dagobah, in search of a great Jedi master Yoda.
After the image of Obi Wan Kenobi went away, Han Solo and R2D2 the robot came to the rescue and took Luke back to the Echo Base. The Imperial troops found the Rebel forces location and invaded them. The Imperial troops eventually took over the base. So then Princess and Han solo fled away along with Luke, R2D2, and Chewbacca. The Princess and Han Solo were in love but they kept their affection hidden and act like kids too each other. Han Solo was then frozen by Darth Vader. After his Luke's little training by Yoda he came back to rescue the Princess and the rest of the crew. The battle with Darth Vader cost Luke's hand. Luke later found out Darth Vader was his father. The crew was safe and sound after they rescued Luke Skywalker dangling in a wire.
Darth Vader was the leader of the Imperial troops and wanted to capture Luke Skywalker. Luke Skywalker is the leader of the Rebel Forces. They don't like each other. I feel its awkward thinking just knowing father is a criminal or a bad person and you never seen him for so long its just awkward. He never took cared of you and just suddenly want you to join the dark side.

George Lucacs Biography

He was born in May 14, 1944 in Modesto, California and no he is not dead he is still alive. His father was British Swiss German. While his mother was German and Scot-Irish. They lived in very middle class conditions, they had to sell retail office supplies to buy a Walnut Ranch. Rather than the bigger sibling helping their younger ones his younger sister pick fights with kids who are bullying George. At first George wasn't interested in movie making but a professional race car driver. On June 12, 1962 he got into tragic car accident that would lead him to death if he hadn't crash into a walnut tree. After the car crash he began to think about his life and decided to go to college at Modesto Junior College. Star War Goof

Today I watched Star Wars: Episode V-The Empire Strikes Back. Luke was being held captured by a snowy monster. He used his force to get his light saber and cut off his leg cuffs and killed the snowy monster. Now his comrades couldn't find him and thinks that Luke is lost. I often see things disappearing a lot. I wouldn't blame them for all there mistakes because it was made 30 years and they didn't have good technology as us right now.  Like I could see the wires hanging Luke up in the ceiling.
